Welcome back and Happy New Year! We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and managed to dodge all the bugs going around.
It’s lovely to see all of the children again, it looks like they have all grown over Christmas too!
The children were all pleased to see each other too and used every free play moment to play together, it’s lovely watching them interact.
This week Maple children as well as focusing on snow and snowmen have been helping to look after some new Maple friends that are settling in. Our present children are very good at introducing themselves, interacting with our new friends and showing them the ropes.
We have been collaging snowmen, taking part in a snowy cosmic kids yoga and practising counting to three, but really beginning to understand what the quantity 1, 2 and 3 really represents. The children are also beginning to recognise the different ways of making three (1 thumb on one hand and 2 fingers on a different hand, all digits on one hand).
Elm children are as happy to be back as Maple children. They are also helping to settle new friends into Elm and are doing a stirling job.
Elm have been reading the story Goldilocks and the three bears - a firm favourite.
The children have been tasting porridge, re-enacting out the story, sorting bears into big, medium and small sizes and counting out three bears.
The children are doing great with their sounds (phonemes), they love bringing in items beginning with the sound of the week. We are so impressed!
Elm had their first PE session on Friday with Holly class and Mr Williamson. they had a great first lesson, they had all the PE equipment out and were encouraged to explore all the resources. They loved it!
