It was lovely to see all the children return with big smiles on their faces after the half term break.
Maple children have been concentrating on the rhyme The wheels on the bus. Everyone enjoyed joining in with the actions and we made a few more verses and actions to go with them. The children have started to make their own little buses and have been role playing being on a bus.
The children also spent time learning facts about 2D shapes, they were shape detectives looking for shapes around the room, they learnt about the different properties each shape has and most importantly, the name of the shape! The children explored different shapes in the form of shape printing, so expect some lovely colourful shape pictures to be coming home soon.
Elm children started their week off making firework pictures and practising their scissor skills. They also started their phonic sessions. This week the sound (phoneme) s was introduced, the children have enjoyed bringing in their items that began with the same sound. They have been telling the maple children during lunchtime, words that begin with ‘s’.
On Friday Elm children went with Holly children and Mr Williamson up to Forest School. They were very excited and came back so excited that they had dug in so much mud! The sat in a log circle, learnt about the fire circle, forest school boundaries and how to stay safe. This was all finished off with warm apple squash.
We all enjoyed taking part in two very different yoga sessions, one being with the very popular cosmic kids. We had some very active warm ups relating to the wheels on the bus and we have found the children’s new favourite warm up by DJ Raphi, it is very active and the children were huffing and puffing by the end but full of laughter and smiles. They have asked for DJ Raphi at the beginning of all their PE sessions.
Parent consultations will take place next week on the afternoons of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, there will be a list on Maple door with your allocated time but please ask one of the team if you are unsure about your time.
