What an exciting week we’ve had with the snow! It was so lovely watching the children explore the snow and hear their squeals of delight. Thank you for sending in wellies, hats and gloves etc - hopefully they have all made their way back home 🤞.
We are working hard to learn our Nativity songs and the children are very excited to perform to you on Wednesday 11th December. You should have received a letter on Friday which tells you the part your child will be playing (an angel or a star) and details about any extra costume requirements we need you to provide please. If you have any queries or concerns about this, please speak with me.
Our book of the week has been, Happy Town, which is a lovely story about a chimpanzee that brightens up the town and lives of others, by encouraging them to celebrate their differences. We have talked about how we are all different, which is what makes us unique and special. We have linked the story to our new words of the week; ‘gloomy’ and ‘cheerful’.
In maths, we have continued to explore numbers to 5 and have focussed on ‘one more’ . It would be great if you could try to include this in day to day activities at home. For example, if they have 4 grapes, how many would one more make?
In phonics, we have been learning about words that end in ‘s’, as well as the new sounds, ‘z’, ‘zz’, ‘qu’ and ‘ch’. Some words children could try building and reading with their phonics cards could be: buzz, fizz, zip, zap, quack, quit, chip, chop. We have also learnt the tricky words; go, no, to, into.
In R.E. We have been learning the ‘Our Father’ prayer (the Lord’s Prayer). There are some tricky wire in this, so we have been unpicking the meaning of these and learning actions to go with them too.
