After reading this story we discussed seasons, which seasons we have read about and how the trees give us clues to the season. We went for an Autumn walk to see if we could find any clues. The children were amazed to see leaves that were pink, red, yellow and orange. We also found sycamore seeds which we showed the children behave like a helicopter when we throw them up in the air.
In maths we talked about patterns and weighing. We had a large light pine cone and a small heavy magnet, the children learnt how a bucket scale works and that size doesn’t necessarily mean it’s heavier. The children have also been making different patterns, they especially liked the sound pattern, eg: clap, clap, stamp, clap, clap, stamp
We have started our art work ready for Remembrance Sunday. The children are painting the bottom part of a plastic drinks bottles. These will be displayed outside MacDonalds in Malvern retail park.
Elm children have been spending the morning in Elm this week, they are definitely ready to ‘move’ to preschool and have loved learning their new routines, especially the continuous snack. They can decide throughout the morning when they are ready for snack, meaning if they are in the middle of an activity, they don’t have to stop what they are doing.
.
The children are definitely getting ready for a week off soon.
