This week Maple children have been singing and choo choo-ing around the room with the nursery rhyme, Down at the Station. We were all pleasantly surprised to listen to Little Wandle’s version of the rhyme which had three verses and signs for us to learn.
We also had some special paper called ‘Wonder Draw’, which allows you to paint on with water and has the effect of charcoal. The best bit is once we have finished and taken photos of the children’s work, we hang it up to dry and then we can start all over again!
We are working hard to learn our Nativity songs and the children are very excited to perform to you on Wednesday 11th December. You should have received a letter on Friday which tells you the part your child will be playing (a cow or sheep) and details about any extra costume requirements we need you to provide please. If you have any queries or concerns about this, please speak with one of us.
Elms book of the week has been, Happy Town, which is a lovely story about a chimpanzee that brightens up the town and lives of others, by encouraging them to celebrate their differences. We have talked about how we are all different, which is what makes us unique and special.
Their sound of the week this week has been ‘t’, the children brought in tambourines, pictures of tents, number tens. They are doing so well hearing the different sounds they have been introduced to so far.
Elm children had a great time at Forest School on Friday with Holly class and Mr Williamson, they played on the swing, played in the snow and drank warm apple squash.
The most exciting events this week was of course SNOW!! We worked out that this is possibly the first time the children will have seen snow or at least remembered it. We of course had to go outside and investigate what it looked like, felt like and could do. Everyone decided they loved the snow and want it to snow every day!
