This week, we have enjoyed reading, 'Only One You', which tells an important message about how we all different and unique and this is what makes us special, just like the little fish in the story in the big ocean full of lots of other fish. Linking this to our R.E., we have talked about what unique talents we are blessed with and how these will get even better the more we practice them. We had a wide range of talents in Holly Class, ranging from hula hooping, to football, to singing and more. Children were keen to show off some of their talents to their classmates, so that we could celebrate them together.
In maths we have continued learning about patterns and children created their own unique fish (just like in our book of the week), using different patterns of their choice. We have also explored making repeated patterns using real objects and shapes too. This also involved playing a fun shape pattern game on the interactive whiteboard, in which children have to guess the next shape in the pattern. If you have access to a tablet/computer at home, they could play this game at home too by following this link: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/ordering-and-sequencing/shape-patterns
In phonics, we have learnt 4 more sounds; ck, e, u and r. We have also learnt another 'tricky word', 'I'. It will be really beneficial if you could please help your child to practise these at home using their little sound cards. I can also explain more about phonics to you in our meeting this Thursday at 3:30. I am really looking forward to seeing you there.
Please remember to book in for a parents evening appointment for Wednesday 23rd or Thursday 24th October if you haven't already done so. You should've received an email containing a link to do this. If not. please contact the school office and they will be happy to help you.
Lastly, thank you again for all of your support with the scarecrows for our Scarecrow Trail. If you haven't already done so, please can all scarecrows be collected from the area next to the school main playground. Thank you.
Have a great weekend and we'll look forward to seeing you on Monday! :)
