Welcome to Oak Class!!
We have been discussing how maths is constantly used by adults in all sorts of different jobs. Today we had the task of designing our own patios and then putting our designs into practice as we created a little patio for bird hide in our outdoor area. Well done all. We finished with the blue bricks shaped in an ‘O’ and ‘C’ for Oak class😀
We were experimenting with static electricity. We were charging the balloons and a plastic cut out to see if we could negatively charge both items so they repel each other…we had some success but learnt that certain plastic cuts outs were better than others.
We have liked our gardening to our Catholic social teaching, where we have been talking about living simply and sustainably. We will enjoy harvesting many vegetables in the weeks to come and discussing how food is produced, cared for and how we can play our part in the future of our beautiful world.

Today we had an amazing afternoon with GB paralympic footballer: Jack Rutter!
He was truly inspirational and had a wonderful message for the children. He truly is resilient and has really persevered after his brain damage.
He wanted the children to remember 3 main things:
1. Keep active - a little each day will be life changing!
2. Don't compete against others - compete against yourself.
3. Try to always have a POSITIVE ATTITUDE!
Well done with all your hard work and fundraising. Keep reflecting on Jack's message. You are all superstars!

We have had a fantastic afternoon with SARA - Search and Rescue Upton.
The team were fantastic with the children and the children (and teachers) loved it! We have been learning about being safe around inland waters and what to do if they or others are in trouble.
We will be having a cake sale next week to raise money for this super charity - they have been in action lots recently with all the local flooding. I will send a letter home with the children with further details.
Thanks so much to the search Upton search and rescue team:)
