The children are doing really well recognising the rhyming words in Hey Diddle Diddle. Elm children are even thinking of new words that rhyme with specific words from the rhyme.
Maple children have been very busy this week talking about their mummies and telling us what they love about their mummies. Hopefully by the time any mum’s read this, they will have seen what their children said they loved about them! As well as this, the children have been busy making sun catchers for their mummies too.
Maple children are loving their time in Holly class on a Friday. We nip to down when Holly and Elm children have gone to Forest School with Mr Williamson. The children particularly love the magnetic letters, the whiteboard and whiteboard pens and the role play corner.
Maple children joined with Elm class to take part in a Cosmic Kids yoga all about cats and dogs. The children have now being taking part in yoga on a weekly basis and are becoming so proficient, when Jaime says what the yoga pose is going to be, the children instantly make that pose without having to see what it looks like! Normally after yoga we have a cool down time, however, all the children wanted their DJ Raphi time with Wheels on the Bus! We have tried some of DJ Raphi’s other songs, but Wheels on the bus is definitely the firm favourite.
Elm class have really enjoyed Wibbly Pigs story this week. They have been talking about animal babies, their different names and what name they would give their puppy, if they had one. Sometimes when we listen to the Elm children, it’s hard to believe that they are still only 3 and 4. Their phonic knowledge is amazing, they are all beginning to segment and blend CVC words, such as cat is c-a-t and they are all using mathematically language such as fewer and more than. Well done Elm, each week you are becoming more and more ready for reception class.
Elm children have also been busy thinking about their mummies, and again, hopefully by the time you read this, their mummies will be the proud owners of a new piece of jewellery.
We have talked a lot about how much our mummies (and Daddies) do for us and hopefully as well as some gorgeous cuddles you will also get a ‘Thank you for everything you do for me’.
Happy Mother’s Day, no matter what your role is in your family, remember your children love you loads and talk about you with such love to us at St Joseph’s. Have a lovely day with your loved ones.
