This week our nursery rhyme was Hey Diddle Diddle. All the children knew it and enjoyed finding the rhyming words. The children thought it was funny that another word for violin is fiddle. We talked about can cows really jump over the moon and do dishes and spoons have arms and legs.
Maple children have been very good welcoming new friends again this week. We were lucky enough to have mild enough weather to spend time in the outdoor classroom. The children love all the different activities they can take part in and they especially love the mud kitchen. A lot of cakes and pizzas were made this week!
Maple children have been practising their cutting skills, we used coloured plastic and paper straws to cut up, so as to not waste anything, we then threaded the cut straws onto pipe cleaners and made ourselves bracelets. The children really concentrated on their cutting and threading. Well done.
Maple and Elm met in St Mary’s room for some Cosmic Kids Yoga, after a warm up of their favourite-DJRaphi. The children ask daily, for DJ Raphi’s The wheels on the bus. They love the high energy dance combined with the familiarity of the song.
Elm class were reading Julia Donaldson’s ‘A Squash and a Squeeze’ this week, the children gave some good suggestions about how to help the little old lady’s home feel bigger. This story has lots of repetition, so it was lovely to hear many of the children joining in with the words. Elm children continued to work on recognising patterns and making patterns.
It was great to see everyone wearing red on Friday to recognise Red Nose Day, we then finished the week off with another session in the outdoor classroom, where the children were practising their balancing skills and ball skills.
