Continuing with our seaside fun, we have enjoyed reading 'Kipper and the Sandcastle' this week. Holly Class were really helpful as Kipper the dog didn't know how to make a sandcastle and so they all wrote him some super instructions about how to do this. They are making really good progress with their writing and are working hard to apply their phonics and remember other key elements such as finger spaces and capital letters.
In maths, we have been continuing to learn about numbers to 20 and beyond. Children enjoyed identifying number patterns on a big interactive 100 square on the whiteboard by splatting them with different colours. (E.g. all numbers ending in '4' etc). We also practiced making numbers 11-20 by starting with a 10 first and then thinking about how many more to add on.
We have also enjoyed lots of seaside art this week - mixing different shades of yellows and beige to paint sand and different shades of blue to paint the sea. We had lots of fun using runny glue and real sand to create sandcastle pictures and finished the week by decorating brightly coloured beach huts.
In R.E. we have continued to learn about the story of Pentecost and children have acted out and talked about what they can remember. In PSHE, we talked about making 'good choices' and what this looks like. Children showed a good understanding of this and also knew what not making good choices looked like too.
Please remember that your child's Tapestry journal is now ready to download and will only be available to do so up until 10th July (please refer to letter previously sent home for further details).
Another reminder - our EYFS sports day will be held on the morning of Wednesday 2nd July (letter sent home last week about this).
Wishing all of the daddies a very Happy Father’s Day. Enjoy the sunshine!
