Well, we are nearly at the end of our first, full term in school and I think it’s safe to say that the children are more than ready for a rest! They have achieved so much already and all have made their own special place in our St Joseph’s school family.
We hope you all enjoyed our Christmas nativity show! The children worked very hard learning all of the songs and dances and were so excited to perform to you on the big day. I’m sure you’ll all agree that they all did fantastically well 👏.
Aside from this, learning has still continued and children have been practising sounds they have already learnt in phonics, to ensure they are really confident with all of them. We will be continuing to do this next week too. I have been assessing children’s phonics understanding this week, which will help to see where they might need any extra support and practice.
Our book of the week has been the classic story, ‘The Snowman’. Children have enjoyed the magic of the snowman coming to life and we created our own little stories through drawing and mark-making about adventures we might have with a walking, talking snowman.
Holly Class had a fabulous time with Mr Williamson on Friday at Forest School! They lit a campfire and toasted marshmallows to make yummy s’mores (I was very envious 😁).
We have lots of festive fun planned for the week ahead, including making snowman biscuits and a party afternoon with music and games to help get us in the Christmas spirit even more.
Please can you remind children not to bring their own toys etc into school please as it causes lots of disagreements and upset, especially if they get lost or broken. Thank you for your support with this.
Looking forward to a fun-filled week! 🎄
