Considering that we’ve only had 4 days in school, we certainly seemed to fit lots in and have had a week full of fun! We celebrate the 80th V.E. Day by making Union Jack flags and decorating red, white and blue biscuits. Although it is quite a lot for younger children to begin to understand, we talked about how V.E. Day is a time for celebration, as we are remembering when the brave soldiers (who tried to keep people safe), could return home from a long war.
We had a letter from ‘Old Bear’, who needed our help as he was lonely up in the attic. The children had some very creative ways as to how to get him down and were thrilled when he appeared one morning, sitting on the carpet reading a book all about himself!
In maths, we have been learning different ways to make 10, as well as practising counting really carefully and being able to subtilise small amounts (this is when you can say how many there are of something, without having to to count).
In R.E., we learnt more about the Easter candle, also know as the Paschal candle. Children drew super pictures of these in their R.E. books and remembered to add all of the important features.
In PSHE, children learnt all about good dental hygiene and practiced brushing some very dirty teeth!
Please can we ask that all phonics/tricky word zipper bags are sent in each Thursday as Mrs Park will need them to add the new tricky words that we have introduced in school. Reading books and yellow reading records should also be returned each Thursday too please.
Holly Class will be hosting their own class assembly in the school hall on Thursday 21st May at 2:30. All parents and carers are very welcome to attend.
