Following in the footsteps of Jesus, together we love live and learn.

W/C: 28th April

It’s been lovely to welcome the children back after the Easter break and great to see that they all settled straight back in like they’d never been away! It's going to be a very short term before we break up for the May half term, so there is lots of learning and fun to fit into the coming weeks ahead.

We have started our new topic - 'Time Travellers' and this week we have been reading Supertato Mean Green Time Machine! Children really enjoyed this story and especially liked hearing about the Evil Pea's cheeky antics! We made our own time machines from junk modelling to try and beat the Evil Pea's race back in time to when Supertato was just a little baby and not so quite so super. All of the children absolutely loved doing this and used their imaginations brilliantly to turn boxes and tubes into something special. Thank you for all of the junk donations we received to make this such a success.

In maths, we have been learning about numbers to 10 - one more/one less and how to combine smaller amounts together to make a bigger total. In phonics, we have been learning how to read and write words with four and five sounds, which has been challenging, although children have made good progress with this so far.

In R.E. we have been talking about the Easter story and how Jesus and his friends may have felt throughout the different key parts. We went to Mass in church on Friday morning and saw special Easter candle, which is very special indeed.

In PSHE, we learnt all about good hand-washing hygiene and why this is so important. This was demonstrated with a couple of children covering their hands in green glitter (to represent the germs we can't see) and then washing it of thoroughly with soap and water.

As we are now experiencing warmer weather (sometimes!), please can children come to school with sun cream already applied and a named sunhat too. We are able to supervise children reapply their sun cream at lunchtime if necessary, but they will need to bring in their own, named bottle of sun cream please.
