Following in the footsteps of Jesus, together we love live and learn.

W/C: 23rd June

Children had a great afternoon on Tuesday when they moved up to Oak Class to meet their new teacher, Mrs Morgans. They came back full of enthusiasm and excitement about their new class and the new friends they had met there, which was so lovely to see.

This week we have been reading the book, 'Puffin Peter', which is a lovely story about a Puffin who is trying to find his lost friend, Paul. Leading on from this, we have been learning more about puffins; what they are, where they live, what they eat and how they move etc. The children wrote some fantastic facts about what they had learnt about puffins, whilst also showing how they can apply their phonics to their writing.

In maths, we have been learning more about doubles, sharing and grouping. Children have really enjoyed playing 'doubling bingo' in class and are many are able to recall doubling facts to 10 very quickly indeed!

In RE, we have been continuing to learn about people who help us and children drew pictures of people they felt that were helpful towards them. We also looked at special artefacts that could be found inside a church and could sort them from other 'non-church' items.

In PSHE, we talked about how we can be kind and caring towards each other. Children decorated a paper heart each and were asked to gift this to another person in Holly Class. Lots of them found this very difficult and wanted to keep the heart they had made, so I think we may be trying a similar activity again soon and talking more about how it is nice to do something/give something to others sometimes, as it can show them that we care.

It is Sport Days on Wednesday for our Early Years Hub, therefore, please remember to send your child to school in their P.E. kit, with sun cream already applied, a sun hat and lots of water in their water bottles. We are hoping as many of you as possible can join us for this exciting event and stay for the picnic in the meadow afterwards. The event will finish by 12:30pm and you may take your child (and their siblings) home afterwards if you wish.

As we are due to have a very warm week ahead, please can you ensure that your child comes into school with sun cream already applied, we can supervise them topping this up at lunchtime if you wish to provide more in school. Please can children also have a named sun hat. Many thanks for your cooperation and support with this.

Lastly, another reminder for children to please bring in any clean junk this week as we will be using this to create lots of wonderful things to help reinforce our word of the week, 'reuse'.

Have a great Sunday!
