Following in the footsteps of Jesus, together we love live and learn.

W/C 17th March

We have had a really lovely week and the icing on the cake has definitely been the gorgeous sunshine we've had for some of it. As a result of filling up their reward jar, Holly Class enjoyed their chosen reward of making 'luxury hot chocolates' on Thursday at snack time. They were all so sensible and kind, sharing out the hot chocolate toppings, making sure not to take too much and leave plenty for their friends. They really enjoyed their treat and one of the children asked if we could do it every day!

We have started learning about Holy Week in our R.E. and focussed this week on Palm Sunday and why it is celebrated. We acted out the story from the Bible when Jesus rode through the streets of Jerusalem and the crowds laid down their cloaks and palm leaves to welcome him. The children did a great job and all enthusiastically shouted 'Hosanna' to 'Jesus' as he travelled through.

In maths, we have been learning about height and length, using the words; long, short and tall. In small groups, the children did a great job of putting themselves into height order. We also had a go at measuring the height of some (pretend) animals using cubes.

In phonics we have been learning how to read and write some longer words, which also include words ending in 'ing'. To do this, the children are encouraged to read the root word first - e.g. jump-ing, sing-ing. It has been a bit of a challenge, although many of the children have got the hang of this already.

Children looked great with all their red clothes and accessories for Comic Relief today. Thank you for all of your kind donations. As a school, we managed to raise more than £100, which is absolutely amazing!

I'm really looking forward to catching up with you all at parents' evening in a couple of weeks. There is still time to book an appointment if you haven't already done so.
