It’s been a roarsome week as we have gone way back in time and have had a dinosaur-themed week! We have read the book, 1,2,3,4, Everyone do the Dinosaur, which is a great story for children to join in with and do the actions. Our word of the week has been ‘stomp’, which Holly Class are all very good at doing!
We have been practising hard for our class assembly too, which is this Wednesday at 2:30. We really hope as many of you as possible a come and see it - the children are very excited to perform to you. ☺️
In maths, we have been learning more about making 10 in lots of different ways. Their rainbow home learning linked to this was great - so a big well done to all of those who have had a go at this at home. Next week we are going to be learning about doubling.
In phonics, we have been learning how to read and write some very long words, including some which contain 7 sounds! We have also been focusing more on how to write a sentence and reminding children about needing to leave a finger space between words.
In R.E. children compared types of Easter candles and then came up with some super questions about them for Mr Williamson’s lesson on Friday. In our class collective worship, we wrote a lovely prayer together all about being loving and compassionate, which is our current value and virtue in school.
Lots of the children are getting very brave and adventurous on the climbing equipment in our EYFS outdoor area. It has been lovely to see them teaching each other new moves and being encouraging too. Being able to take risks within a safe environment and trying new things is such an important part of child development.
Enjoy the lovely sunshine and please remember that school is closed on Friday for a teacher training day ahead of the half term week. This means that our last day in school is Thursday 22nd May and we will return to school on Monday 2nd June.
