16th March 2026

Weekly round up.

Welcome back to another EYFS Hub weekly roundup!  The sun has shone and children have enjoyed lots of play outdoors.  They have loved building with our new construction resources and have worked together to building houses, castles and cars.   We have brought some of the trikes down from the main playground to our EY outdoor area and they have loved whizzing around in a different space;  helping them to negotiate space and take turns.

All children across the Hub have been  busy making their Easter bonnets/crowns this week and can't wait to show them off to you on Tuesday afternoon.  Thank you for returning the reply slips, this helps to give us an indication of who is able to attend.  Please can adults attending for the Easter parade make sure that they sign in at the main reception before coming around to the main playground.  There will be an opportunity to make a donation to the Big Lent Walk appeal, so please bring any loose change that you are able to spare.

In Maple, children have enjoyed learning the words and actions to Incy Wincy Spider. They have also been investigating why some objects stick to their ‘magic’ (magnetic) wands.  In maths, they have been learning about positional language (e.g. the duck is under/next to/on top of the tree).  In R.E., children have been talking about what makes them happy and sad and have been practising making the sign of the cross.

In Elm, children have been practising their counting skills to 5, using games and rhymes to help develop their accuracy.  They have continued with their Australian theme and have enjoyed small world play and crafts linked to their book of the fortnight; What’s in Your Pocket?’  They are so confident when mixing with Holly Class in the afternoons and are keen to explore the different areas of provision as well as integrating with the older children in Holly Class.

It’s our last week before we break up for the Easter holidays on Friday.  There will be a two week break and we will then return to school on Monday 13th April.
