Following in the footsteps of Jesus, together we love live and learn.

W/C: 6th October

A HUGE well done to Holly Class today for their performance in church this morning. They sang with gusto and probably made you have ‘Big, Red, Combine Harvester’ buzzing around your head all day! 😁 It was an extremely brave first performance and they should all be very proud of themselves.

It was lovely to see so many of you on Monday at our EYFS Harvest afternoon, we hope you enjoyed it. The children certainly loved having you there and really enjoyed showing you their arts and crafts. The soup, bread rolls and and gingerbread men were a great success and hopefully tasted as good as they looked!

In Holly Class this week, in maths, we have been learning about how to compare length, capacity and mass in lots of fun, practical ways. Children were encouraged to use language such as, longer/shorter,  heavier/lighter, full/empty.

In phonics children have been learning the new sounds ck, e, u and r. We talked about how ‘ck’ is usually found at the end of a word and never at the start. We also introduced the new tricky word ‘I’. We are working hard on blending sounds together now to read whole word. For example, c-a-t = cat. New cards should be in their sound wallets.

In RE, when have been exploring the what Harvest festival is all about and what we are thankful for. The children had some really lovely responses to this question, including being thankful for their brother/sister, friends and sunshine. ☀️

We have a ‘Word of the Week’ each week, which is introduced by ‘Concept Cat’. This week, was ‘find’. We learnt the Signalong sign to go with this too and always try to weave other signs into our everyday routines.

Please can I remind parents/carers to label jumper/cardigans with their child’s name to avoid mix-ups and items getting lost.

Have a lovely weekend and we’ll see you again on Monday
