It was another great week of learning and fun in Holly Class and I am very impressed with the progress children are making with learning the songs and actions for our nativity show - you are going to be in for a treat! You should've received a note last week with information about what part your child is playing, their lines (if they have any) and any costume requirements. Please let me know asap if you have not seen this or if you have any queries about the information you have received.
In maths, we have been focussing on numbers 1-5 and getting a really good understanding of one more and one less within this range. This is something you can consolidate at home during everyday situation. For example, when laying the table - how many more will there be if we put out out one more plate? How many biscuits are left if mummy eats one? (Always a good excuse)!
In phonics, we have finished learning all of the sounds within phase 2 and will be focussing on consolidating these and learning how to read and write words ending in 's' before moving onto new sounds in phase 3. Hopefully the little sound cards that your child comes home with are a helpful way of them practicing their phonics at home. They could be used as little flashcards or as tiles in which they put together to build words. Sometimes children have fun using them for a sound hunt; either by trying to find the hidden sound cards or trying to find things around the house that contain a sound on one of the cards.
There have been quite a few illnesses doing the rounds, but hopefully the weekend break has helped everyone to feel a bit better.
See you all tomorrow. :)
