Our Weekly Roundup…….

Well, we have reached the end of our first half term together and I can honestly say it has been an absolute pleasure. All of the children within Holly Class have settled so well and have fully embraced school life. One of the main things I have notice about the children is how beautifully they play together and there is a real sense of unity within the class. Long may it continue! ☺️

This week has been a great way to finish off our first half term together. Although the children were tired and ready for a rest, we still managed to fit in some extra fun activities. We had Diwali Hub celebrations on Monday (see whole school post for further information about this) and of course pyjama day on Thursday! This was their chosen reward for filling their pom pom jar, alongside teddies and hot chocolates of course.

We have had an ‘assess and review’ week in phonics, which means I’ve been able to have a really good look at the sounds children can remember and see how confidently they are using these sounds to begin to blend/read small words. It has also given us the opportunity to go over some of the sounds that we need a little more practice with.

In maths we have been exploring numbers 1-3 in lots of different ways, including how to represent these numbers/quantities in different ways.

In R.E. we began our new unit, How people care for us’. We talked about who we think loves us and how they care for us. We also talked about how we are all also part of God’s family and what He does to show us His love.

After the half term break, our new topic will be ‘Light and Colour’, which will include celebrations such as Bonfire Night and Christmas, as well as exploring the beauty of autumn colours in nature too. We will also start rehearsals for our nativity show, which we will be in collaboration with Oak Class (year 1 &2) - how exciting !

I hope you all have a lovely half term break and that children have chance to re-charge their batteries. We will see you again on Monday 3rd November. 👋
