Following in the footsteps of Jesus, together we love live and learn.

W/C: 17th November

Well, there has been a lot of excitement about the ice and sprinkling of snow we've had this week!  Holly Class children have loved exploring the ice - seeing how it snaps, crushes and melts.  Thank you for the extra layers you have provided this week to keep them warm.  This makes such a difference as we aim to go out in any weather in Early Years.

Nativity rehearsals are underway and children are really enjoying the singing and actions so far.  Next week, we will start to practice the small speaking lines for those that have them.  As a school, we will be providing the costumes for the show, but may ask  you to help help with specific under layers.  This usually involves black/white vest/t-shirt and black/white leggings or tights.  More information will come out about this as soon as possible.

In phonics this week, we have been learning some new sounds: z. qu & ch.  We have also been learning about words that end in 's'  (e.g. cats, runs, rats etc).  New tricky words were go, no, to and into.  Mrs Park will pop these into book bags on Monday as there were only a few book bags in school today.  Just as a quick reminder - please can reading books, sound/tricky word card zipper bags and home learning books be returned each Monday.  Children will need their book bags in school each Friday so that all of the new things can be sent home olease.

Our book of the week has been the lovely and thought-provoking story, 'Mixed', which is all about the colours red , blue and yellow who sadly fall out because of their differences.  Fortunately, they learn that it's much better to be friends and live together peacefully and they then decide to create lots of new colours together.  Children voluntarily gave some really sweet responses when hearing this story and talked about how we are all different, yet play together as friends.

Alongside our book, we have been doing lots of our own colour-mixing activities using a range of materials such a post paints, water colours, powder paints with shaving foam and oil pastels.  Children have really enjoyed doing this and have loved the freedom of being creative and the sense of ownership when creating their very own brand new colour!

Pictures to accompany our weekly roundup will follow shortly.  In the meantime, I wish you all a great weekend.

See you Monday!
