Following in the footsteps of Jesus, together we love live and learn.

W/C: 15th September

It’s been another great week in Holly Class. The children are all settling in so well and are really finding their feet in school. They had a great time with Mr Williamson on Friday and had a great PE session with the apparatus and then went for some fun up in the meadow, testing out the ski slope!

Our book of the week has been ‘Owl Babies’ and the children had some great ideas about where they thought mummy owl may have gone, although lots included many grizzly endings of her being eaten by other various animals!

We have started our phonics lessons this week, children have already learnt the sounds s,a,t and p. They have brought these sound cards home with them in a zipper wallet.  These are for children to be able to practice their sounds at home too. Please can their phonics wallets be brought into school every Friday so that we can add in the new sound cards for the week. I will be leading a phonics information meeting in a few weeks.  This meeting will give you an overview into how phonics is taught in school and how you can support your child with phonics at home.

In RE, we have started to explore the topic of Creation and children have been sharing their ideas about who they think made the animals, the plants, the rivers and seas, even us! We read the story of Creation from the Bible and children helped to make this come to life by using toys and props alongside the storytelling.

It has been so lovely to see how confident children were during their ‘show and tell’ turns this week. They have really enjoyed sharing their special belongings with the class and they have especially liked being asked questions about them by their peers. They really are all marvellous!

Please can children bring their yellow reading record into school.  each day. This is so that we can recognise and celebrate reading at home and encourage regular and positive reading habits at home.  Thank you for your support with this.
