It’s been another great week in Holly Class and we have really enjoyed having our own hairdressers, which has linked nicely to our book of the week, ‘Hair Love’. Children have have combed, curled, straightened and styled each others’ hair and I tink I can safely say that I no longer get have a single knot left in my hair! 😁 It has been a lovely opportunity for all of us to bond, take turns and have some lovely conversations with each other too.
In maths, we have been learning about patterns. What have looked at examples of what are and what are not patterns. We have also copied patterns, continued patterns and have even had a go at making repeated patterns of our own. We have explored how patterns may be something we can see, but they might also be so,thing we can hear through words or sounds.
In phonics, we have learnt the sounds h, b, f and l. We have also learnt the tricky word ‘the’. All of these should’ve been in their sound wallets today. We are doing lots of blending practice in school. This is when we put sounds together to read a whole word. E.g. d-o-g = dog. We have also had a go at spelling simple words together this week. This is something you could practice at home if your child is willing and keen to do so.
Holly Class loved doing P.E. with Mrs Walters (aka Becci) today and she was very impressed with how hard they all worked and how well they all listened.
On Monday, we will be having a fun afternoon together as a whole EYFS Hub and will be exploring Diwali . Children will be making diva lamps and creating colourful pictures and other crafts, as well as learning a bit about this vibrant and happy celebration.
Have a great weekend!
