Maple and Elm - Pat-a-cake.

What a great turn out on Monday for our Harvest Fun.  The children were so pleased to see all of you and very excited to be showing you their autumn crafts.  I hope you all enjoyed the bread rolls, soup and gingerbread people. Thank you for taking time out of your day to support the nursery and school, it is appreciated.

We started our week by making bread rolls, this was the easiest recipe we have even used - yoghurt and flour! The children loved squishing the mixture together and rolling the dough into balls.  They were very excited when they came out of the oven, school smelled delicious.

We have been singing another classic nursery rhyme this week, pat-a-cake.  To help with the rhythm we started by tapping our knees whilst we sang the song.  All the children instantly recognised it and enjoyed joining in.  After singing it a few times, we changed from tapping our knees to one tap and then one clap.

The children helped make some salt dough so they could practise their bread rolling skills and to make some pat-a-cakes.

In RE we have continued with creation and listened to a story about what God made.  We were also practising their bread rolling sign of the cross and went on a cross walk in school and outside.  We found lots of different crosses and then drew and coloured our own.

In St Mary’s room we practised our pencil control on the Interactive Whiteboard and also played Shape Monsters and pieced together jigsaws.

We finished the week with Cosmic Kids Yoga and of course, DJ Raphi.

A great week, everyone has worked very hard.
