Maple and Elm’s weekly round up.

Well, we’ve had another busy week.  We finished our Harvest crafts and are very excited to show our grown ups.

Both rooms have been taking part in a movement programme called Squiggle.  It helps young children develop their arm and finger muscles ready for writing.  Maple’s squiggle is purely movement, in the air and then consolidated with activities in the tuff tray.  Elm children also add moving with wax crayons onto paper.  The children are really enjoying the different movements and especially like moving with the music.  It’s been very nostalgic hearing Wham! and Yazz and the Plastic Population ( late 80’s).

In RE this week as well as continuing to practise making the sign of the cross and continue learning our new morning prayer, we also went on a walk, looking for ‘things’ we thought were beautiful.  We had photographs of daisies, cobwebs, trees and grass.  The children then had a go at drawing their beautiful ‘things’ with chalk on the playground floor.  We were talking about who we thought ‘made/created’ these beautiful things.  The children decided God did.  The children then decided to have another look around outside and decide if they thought he created anything else they could see.  By the end of our discussion, they decided God created everything!

Parents:  can you please ensure your child has a jumper and warm coat please.  Some days, it has been a little cooler and a thin raincoat has not been enough to keep the children warm.  Thank you.

Final reminder:  Please don’t forget to bring some change for the delicious soup, bread rolls and gingerbread people.  We will have a small float for change, but may not be able to give you enough change from £5!  The black gates will be open at 2pm and one of us will be available to sign you in and out again.  We look forward to seeing you all on Monday.
