Maple class have been singing the popular nursery rhyme Miss Polly had a dolly. The children all gathered their favourite toys and dolls to re-enact the rhyme.
We’ve managed to dodge the rain and have enjoyed ourselves in the outdoor classroom and riding on the bikes and scooters.
In RE we have been role playing a Baptism and finding out how important our names are. The children have also been practising making the sign of the cross - well done everyone!
Everyday we have been counting how many children are present, counting the number on our fingers then finding the corresponding finger photos to match the number. We have then found the numeral to match too. The children are getting very good at singing the days of the week song and working out which day comes next.
The children have been incorporating their squiggle movements into their PE lessons and have enjoyed dancing to Danny Go and DJ Raphi.
Our new friends have settled in beautifully and are being shown our routines by our ‘seasoned children’.
A very busy and enjoyable week.
Elm children have continued with their space topic, which is proving to be so much fun!
They have been enjoying stories about Bob, who is the 'man on the moon' who helps to give guided tours to the tourists that visit there. Strangely enough though, he never seems to notice the aliens that surround him, although the children were VERY good at spotting them.
The children have been doing lots of fabulous space-themed artwork, including designing their own moon boots! They have been looking at images of space rockets and constructing their own with wooden blocks.
In maths the children have been looking at patterns and constructing jigsaws. As well as traditional jigsaws they have been using the Interactive Whiteboard to move the jigsaw pieces around to complete the image.
In Fridays PE lesson with Holly class the children continued perfecting their tennis volleys and had an absolute ball. Elm also joined Maple in a dance lesson using scarves to enhance their movements.
The children have spent some afternoons in Holly class as well as exploring the outdoor classroom and riding bikes and scooters on the large playground.
A great week everyone!
