Following in the footsteps of Jesus, together we love live and learn.

19th January 2026

Weekly round up.

It has been lovely welcoming more new children into our Hub and heart-warming to watch how well the other children take them under their wing, to help make them them feel part of our St Joseph's school family.  One of the huge benefits I believe in having a 'Hub' is seeing how well the different aged children within the early years interact together.  Having younger children within the environment really helps the older ones to rise up and show their kindness and to take greater responsibility in leading the way in play and routines.  Children teaching each other is a huge part of their development and is such an effective way to learn.

Holly and Elm have continued with their space topic, which is proving to be so much fun!  They have been enjoying stories about Bob, who is the 'man on the moon' who helps to give guided tours to the tourists that visit there. Strangely enough though, he never seems to notice the aliens that surround him , although the children were VERY good at spotting them.   Children in Holly class did some lovely writing about who they thought would be a perfect friend for Bob and came up with some wonderful ideas, including an alien dog with 3 eyes and 6 legs!  Children in Elm have been doing lots of fabulous space-themed artwork, including designing their own moon boots!

Maple have continued with their Humpty Dumpty theme and have been doing some 'eggs-elent' activities around this!  These have included decorating eggs with paint and drawing pictures of Humpty Dumpty himself!  In their maths, they have been focussing on saying number names in order and are beginning to learn that anything can be counted - such as different objects and sounds.

Have a great rest of the weekend and we'll see you all again next week for another week full of fun and learning.
