Another busy week for Maple and Elm children.
Elm children are remembering the routines in Elm very quickly, and are definitely showing us they were more than ready to be pre-school children.
This week Elm children read the story Owl Babies, they produced some beautiful owl pictures. To make the feathers they used the back of a fork dipped in paint - it was very effective.
In RE this week we continued looking at God the Creator. We talked about all that God created, then we talked about our favourite things. The children drew the favourite things, some thought of rainbows and dandelions, others drew their favourite food.
We continued singing our nursery rhyme pat-a-cake, we continued practising our clapping to keep up with the rhythm and then introduced tapping our knees and clapping hands with a partner. This was quite difficult for the children but they certainly enjoyed practising and having a go.
Maple children in maths focussed on big, biggest, small and smallest. They made small and big models to demonstrate their understanding. In St Mary’s room, the children we introduced to Shape Monsters on the Interactive Whiteboard, they loved feeding the shapes to the monsters and their hand eye control is improving immensely.
We all had our photographs taken on Wednesday, everyone gave great big smiles, so hopefully you will be pleased with the results.
A busy week, the children are definitely ready for half term.
