Following in the footsteps of Jesus, together we love live and learn.

12th January 2026

Maple and Elm’s weekly round up.

Well the children have had another busy week.  We have welcomed  three new Maple friends, who had had a great time exploring the room.  The other Maple children have been very welcoming, showing them where to find certain toys or wash their hands.

Elm children have been reading ‘Whatever Next’, the story is about a bear that decides to go to the moon in a cardboard box as a rocket and a colander as a space helmet.  The children have been mixing space colours in paint and using their cutting skills to cut along wiggly, wavy and straight lines.  They have been role playing the story and making space creatures out of play dough.

The sound of the week was ‘g’, the children are really enjoying learning the different sounds and are beginning to notice them in their everyday environment.  In maths they have been looking at patterns - in rhymes and songs, shape patterns and repeating patterns.

On Friday, Elm children joined Mr Williamson and Holly class for PE.  They have been learning the skills used to play tennis. They have been practising a rally using balloons and the big smiles on the photos say they definitely had a good time!

Maple children have been singing Humpty Dumpty and have enjoyed making walls out of construction blocks for Humpty to fall off.

In maths we have been singing songs that have counting in them, Baa baa black sheep, When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears. We have also been counting actions, we counted how many beats we played on a drum, how many claps we did and counting when we pick up blocks.

In PE, Elm and Maple joined together and danced with scarves.

In RE we have begun learning about how water is used in a special way in the church.  We talked about our names and who we thought gave us our name.

A busy and fun packed week
