Well another busy week for all the children.
On Tuesday, 11/11, we talked about why people wear poppies and during the two minute silence we watched an age appropriate short programme.
Elm children have had a very exciting week, after ending last week with their first Forest School session - which they all loved, they started this week by having lunch in the hall with Holly children. When they came back, we they were very excited, some had seen their siblings and most had seen a friend they know. They behaved beautifully and came back saying how much they had enjoyed it.
Elm children continued reading ‘Wow, said the owl!’, we talked a lot about the different colours in the book and should owl be up in the daytime or night time. The children are enjoying being introduced to Little Wandle phonics and love seeing what each other has brought in their sounds bag.
Maple children have been singing the nursery rhyme ‘The wheels on the bus’. Of course as soon as we go into St Mary’s room and the children see the Interactive Whiteboard, they all request DJ Raphi’s version of ‘The wheels on the bus’. They have been creating block printed cars, rolling mini cars through paint and then onto paper and making car steering wheels.
On Wednesday, it was Kayleigh’s birthday, to celebrate she brought in cakes for the children to decorate and take home and eat. The children had a wonderful time drizzling icing and were counting down to going home to eat the cake!
Elm and Maple children have been noticing each time they go into St Mary’s room that it is becoming more and more empty. Elm children are very excited that after Christmas this will be their new room and Maple children are excited that they will have the old Elm room as a small physical activity room with a small trampoline, tunnels and climbing frame.
We have been reading books that have repeative phrases in as our introduction to repeating patterns. Of course, we had to read a firm favourite Shark in the Park and Hairy MaClary from Donaldson’s dairy.
When it hasn’t been raining we have been able to goon the bikes and scooters on the big playground. Some of the younger children are just taking tentative steps on the scooters and cars, whilst the older children are whizzing around on balance bikes.
Elm children have continued to go into Holly class in the afternoons on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Mrs Wilford, Rachel and Jo ( who accompany them) have reported their behaviour is immaculate and how much fun they are having. Keep up the good work Elm.
On Friday during all the day long rain, Maple room developed a leak, so when Elm children had PE ( in place of Forest School due to the weather), Maple children had a play first in Elm room and then into St Mary’s for a climb, bounce and slide.
A busy but very productive week. Fingers crossed we have no more rain.
