St Joseph's Catholic

Primary School

Following in the footsteps of Jesus, together we love live and learn.

W/B 2nd October 2023

What a very busy week we are having, as well as lots of fun in the classrooms and outdoor areas, we are also practising for our Harvest Festival - Our Scarecrow Trail.  We are looking forward to seeing all the children's scarecrows as they come into school. The whole school are supporting Malvern Food Bank this year at harvest time, we would be grateful for any donations of food with a long shelf life such as tins, household products or toiletries to help those less fortunate. This is leads on from our Catholic social teachings last week about the fair distribution of food. Thank you for all your support. We have been thinking about all the things we are thankful for as part of our harvest topic. They drew a picture of something they are thankful for.

We have been busy making soup for the parents to enjoy at our harvest show. The children have been putting the ingredients, particularly the coriander with scissors, thinking about where the vegetables come from and helping to count handfuls into the soup makers and stirring the stock. We had a lovely afternoon.

We are so proud of the children’s performance in front of the whole school and again for parents and families. They sang and did the actions beautifully. Thank you for the scarecrows and coming to see our show.

In maths, we matched the numbers to the quantity, we even practised those subsidising skills of knowing the amount without counting. To make it fun we have continued to use our scarecrow theme.

In RE, Holly class have been thinking about what makes us special and what talents God has given us. They have suggested different skills and lovely traits that they have as individuals.

When the children saw the gymnastic apparatus in the hall they shouted ‘wow’. It is great to see them enjoying their PE lessons so much.
