Following in the footsteps of Jesus, together we love live and learn.

W/B 15th January 2024

This week we have been continuing our Antarctica theme by looking at penguins. We have learnt about their live cycles and have been labelling them, particularly looking at the difference between a fiction and non fiction book. We have been getting crafty and made origami penguins to add to the iceberg collages we made last week. We hope you liked them. We have also been making clay model penguins, which we will paint next week when they have dried out. The children made some wonderful penguin paintings too.

We have been progressing through the phonics scheme and have been learning new diagraphs and a triagraph. The children have been using this knowledge to help them in their writing about penguins.

In RE, we have moved on from baptism to the people who help us topic. We thought about who helps us in difference places and what characteristics and actions make people compassionate. We particularly thought about Fr Naz and the different jobs he does in church. We went on a scavenger hunt to find pictures of the things he uses such as a chalice, bible or pascal candle in mass or celebrations. We thought about Jesus too and drew ourselves with Jesus supporting us. We went over to church to look at the artefacts used by Fr Naz.

In PE, we played Granny’s footsteps, balanced a cone on our heads while moving, cone and valley game, catching in pairs, tidy bedroom ball team game. The children enjoyed all the team games and working together.
