5th January 2026

Weekly round up.

It has been a great week back and it’s been really lovely to welcome  our children in Maple, Elm & Holly Class  back into our Hub. A very warm welcome to  our  new, younger members who have joined us in Maple this week too - it is great to see you all settling in so well.

During the first week back after a break, we always like to focus on settling all children back into routines and nurturing good relationships between children and with adults too. It is has been great hearing lots of excited news about their Christmas experiences! Children in Holly Class did a super drawing each and  an excellent piece of writing about this.

Children in Maple have enjoyed singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and doing some other activities relating to this well known nursery rhyme. They have had lots of fun exploring the sparkly ‘snowy’ sensory tray as well as venturing outdoors to play with the real ice that has been brought to us by Jack Frost this week.

Children in Elm have loved exploring their new Elm room and have really got stuck into their new ‘Space’ topic. They have used their imaginations beautifully to engage with the space-themed small world area and space station  play in Holly Class. They have also created some super space patterns with chalk and black paper.

Holly class and Elm Class have both been reading ‘Whatever Next!’ this week, which is all about a little bear that zooms up to space in his rocket (made from a cardboard box) and then has a picnic on the moon. In Drawing Club, Holly Class talked about what might happen if he met an alien and what it might look like. The ideas they had were great and resulted in us drawing an alien with a screen in its tummy so that we could see the food it had eaten!

A quick reminder that Holly and Elm have P.E. every Friday morning so please can they come dressed accordingly (including trainers or pumps please).

Have a lovely weekend and we’ll look forward to more fun and adventures next week ☺️
