The term has got off to a flying start! We have been very busy learning lots of new things! We have learnt all about the Queen, the UK and even sung the National Anthem! We have really enjoyed reading The Tiger who came to Tea! We have even made our own role-play masks so that we can retell the story!
Class 2 have been enjoying the topic so much that one member of the class built a fantastic new city!!
In English, we will be reading The Tiger who came to Tea by Judith Kerr. We will meet the tiger who came to tea with Sophie and her mummy. We will learn the story off by heart, retelling it with actions as a class. We love drawing our story maps in Class 2 and will use them to write our own versions of the story.
In Maths, we will be consolidating our learning on addition and subtraction. We will then focus on multiplication facts. Year 1 will be learning to use numbers up to 50, while Year 2 will use their knowledge of 2, 5, and 10 times tables to write and solve calculations. We will find out that multiplication is commutative while division is not!
In Science this term we will be learning all about materials and their uses. We will decide which materials are best suited for their uses and even test out which material is the most waterproof and why!
