We are going to back to nature this week to match our natural themed classrooms. We are going to be exploring the natural world around us. Come and take a walk with us as we use our five senses to see, hear, touch, feel and taste the nature in our school garden.
What's in the garden?
Aurelia and her family found a wasp's nest and brought it into school! Look at the incredible pictures below.
This week we will be using the wasp's nest to spark our investigations into the natural world around us.
What can you see? What do you think? What do you wonder?
I see...Lots of grey swirling patterns.
I see...dark and light.
I think...It's amazing!
I think...I would like to know more about the fascinating world of wasps!
I wonder... How do they make the nest?
I wonder...What is it made from?
What do you see? Think? Wonder? Write down your thoughts...
Nature is full of patterns, just like maths!! What patterns can you see in the picture? What shapes can you see in the picture? Can you make patterns? Can you make a shape pattern?
You could even make a number pattern!!! 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18...
Use your research skills to find lots of information about wasps. Can you answer your questions from earlier?
